Our WMS Student Council went to St. Louis yesterday to make their $1,000 donation to Ronald McDonald House. Students fundraised this money through the school's House Penny Wars.
After leaving Ronald Mcdonald House, our Student Council got to eat lunch at Fitz's. Then, we celebrated with our end-of-year activity at Sky Zone!
Ms. Stark really appreciates everyone's hard work and dedication to helping our school and community. 🙌🙌

It's National School Nurse Day, recognizing and thanking school nurses for their crucial role in supporting the health and well-being of students. Here at the Johnston City School District were are fortunate to have two AMAZING nurses.
Mary Johanson is a Registered Nurse, and she's been looking over our students for nearly two decades. Her 20th anniversary will be September 2025!
Tara Burton is a Licensed Practical Nurse, who was hired during the pandemic. She's stationed at Washington Middle School and has two children attending Johnston City Schools.
🚨 POSITIVE PICKLE ALERT 🚨
The school year is coming to an end, and our Full-Service Community School (FSCS) team is making sure staff and students are recognized.
Now, they're starting a Positive Pickle jar! All you have to do is write the name of a staff member or student who did something positive this year on a shout out card, write a few sentences about the impact they made, and put that in the "shout outs" box.
Then, take a positive pickle and show it off like a badge of honor! Too often, people never know the difference they make in someone's day or life. Let's change that and encourage more acts of kindness.

🎶🌸 We're so excited for our Spring Concert 🎶🌸
Our student-musicians have been practicing for months and are ready to put on a show for parents and the community, from elementary students on the recorder to our middle school and high school band and choir! These musicians will have you tapping your foot and wanting to sing along!
The performance is taking place tomorrow, May 7th, at the JCHS gymnasium starting at 7:30 p.m.

A friendly reminder to parents/guardians,
All students participating in a WMS or JCHS sport for the 2025-26 school year MUST have a
yearly sports physical.
This is a great opportunity to cross that off your back-to-school checklist, and help support several of our school groups.
Here's a link to the IHSA Physical form: https://bit.ly/3XIrjTd
You can find print copies in the office at Lincoln Elementary, Washington Middle School, and Johnston City High School.

It's a BIG day for WMS Athletics!
Our Golf team is traveling to West Frankfort for regionals! While our Track team's also away at West Frankfort for a conference meet.
Let's wish these student-athletes some luck as their seasons are coming to a close.

📚✨ Happy Teacher Appreciation Week! 🍎✏️
This week, we celebrate the incredible educators who shape minds, inspire dreams, and make a lasting impact every single day. 👩🏫👨🏫
To every teacher who's stayed late to help a student, brought learning to life, or offered a listening ear when it mattered most — THANK YOU. Your dedication doesn’t go unnoticed.
We appreciate all of our teachers at Washington Middle School!
Our 6th grade class visited Rend Lake for its 37th annual Get Outdoors Event.
Students were able to learn and get close with wildlife, including spiders, different species of snakes, and an American Bald Eagle. These 6th graders were able to learn about each animal's habitat and how they contribute to the ecosystem.
Overall, more than 600 local students from across the region attended this educational event connecting them to wildlife!
