December Character Word

We are excited to share that our character word of the month at Washington Middle School is "Caring". Throughout the month of December, we will focus on fostering kindness, empathy, and compassion within our school community.

What Does "Caring" Mean? Caring means showing kindness, understanding, and concern for others. It involves treating people with respect and always being ready to help those in need. Whether it’s offering a hand to a friend, listening attentively to someone, or helping a classmate, caring is about putting others first and making a positive impact in their lives.

How Can You Support "Caring" at Home?

  • Model Caring Behavior: Show your child how you care for others through everyday actions—helping a neighbor, volunteering, or showing empathy to family members.

  • Discuss the Importance of Caring: Talk with your child about times they’ve seen or experienced caring acts and encourage them to share their thoughts.

  • Encourage Acts of Kindness: Help your child identify small ways they can show care, whether it's by complimenting someone, helping at home, or showing gratitude.

We believe that when we all work together to demonstrate caring, we can create a compassionate and inclusive environment for everyone. We look forward to seeing how our students embrace this important character trait.
