Return to School Plan

2023-2024

As we continue to navigate the challenges presented to us over the past 4 years, Johnston City CUSD #1 has been working on its updated Return to School Plan for the 2023-2024 school year. The goal of this plan is to have students attend school in-person for a full school day Monday through Friday. When developing this plan we looked at the successes of our previous school years and updated our protocols for the 2023-2024 school year accordingly. The updates to the protocols in this plan are based on the most recent guidance.

This plan has been developed in accordance with the ARP Act and the Illinois State Superintendent of Education declaration of July 9, 2021. The plan is aligned with guidance provided by the IDPH and the CDC. It also addresses adjustments that may be needed in response to evolving COVID-19 pandemic circumstances. This guide outlines the educational plans and protocols in place for the entire school year. Due to the uncertainty of the pandemic, it is possible the district will have to modify this plan during the school year.

Note: protocols outlined in this guide are subject to change as guidelines evolve. At a minimum this guide will be reviewed and updated no less than every six months as required by the ARP Act.
